Troubleshooting and technical questions

Check that the Listening To button matches where the sound is coming from: System Audio for a call, meeting or video playing on your PC; PC / Desk Mic for people speaking in the room; Headset Mic for your own voice through a headset. Click the button to switch between them. The thin green bar under it moves while sound is coming in.

To choose which device DuoVox records from, open the menu and go to Audio → Audio input device. On System Audio it lists your playback devices (speakers and headphones); on PC / Desk Mic or Headset Mic it lists your microphones. Leave it on the default entry to follow the device Windows is set to use.

Not every language works on every plan. When you pick a language your plan cannot caption, DuoVox shows a short notice naming the language and what it needs. Some languages can be translated into even when speech in that language cannot be captioned. The full list, with what each language does on each plan, is on the supported languages page.

On the Free plan DuoVox runs entirely on your PC. Download the language packs you need first: open the menu, then Settings & advanced → Download Languages. On a paid plan the same packs are used automatically if your internet connection drops, and DuoVox returns to your plan’s AI by itself as soon as the connection is back.

If you hold Pay-As-You-Go hours, they take over automatically and your session carries on. Otherwise DuoVox lets you choose: buy more hours, continue in free offline mode, or end the session. Hours you buy then apply from your next session. Nothing is ever bought without you confirming it in the Microsoft Store.

Click the globe icon in the toolbar to change the language of DuoVox’s own menus and buttons. The two language selectors on the right of the toolbar are separate: they set the languages of the conversation.

DuoVox makes a note of what happened. The next time you start it, it offers to send that as a report, with the error details attached. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it, and you are only asked once per incident.

Yes. Ctrl+Alt+S starts and stops captioning, and Ctrl+Alt+R switches between 2 and 4 boxes. The full list is in the menu under Keyboard shortcuts.

Open the menu and choose About DuoVox. It shows your installed version and your device ID, which is useful to include if you contact support or write to us about your data.

DuoVox runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11, and is installed from the Microsoft Store, which keeps it up to date automatically.

More answers about plans, privacy and features are in the common questions on the home page and on the Security page.
