These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the DuoVox application ("App") provided by David Arthur Software ("DAS", "we", "our", "us"). By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. Description of Service
DuoVox is a real-time voice transcription and translation application. The App captures audio, transcribes speech to text, and provides AI-powered translations between supported languages. The App is available on Android and Windows platforms.
DuoVox is an assistive tool that produces automated, real-time speech-to-text and translation. It is a software aid only. It is not a certified, verified, or human interpretation or translation service, and it does not replace a qualified human interpreter or translator. Using DuoVox does not create any interpreter–client, translator–client, or professional advisory relationship. DuoVox is not a medical device, is not regulatory-approved or certified for clinical, diagnostic, or treatment use, and is not intended for such use; its output is not a certified, sworn, or official translation or record.
2. Subscription Tiers and Pay-As-You-Go
The App offers the following plans. Prices shown are the default USD; UK customers pay the GBP-equivalent and Eurozone customers pay the EUR-equivalent; all other regions are charged the local-currency equivalent at the rate Microsoft Store / Google Play apply at the time of purchase.
- Free: On-device transcription using local speech recognition. Works entirely offline with no internet connection required. Supported on Android and Windows. In-app promotional messages or light banner advertising may be displayed.
- Standard ($22.99/month or $249.99/year — UK: £22.99/£249.99 — EU: €22.99/€249.99): Live AI-powered transcription and translation across 51 supported languages and variants (translation supports all of them; live transcription coverage for a few less-common languages is widest on Professional). Includes 15 hours of AI usage per month and document translation. No advertising. Additional usage beyond the included hours is available via Pay-As-You-Go.
- Professional ($139.99/month or $699.99 for 6 months — UK: £139.99/£699.99 — EU: €139.99/€699.99): Enhanced terminology recognition for specialist vocabulary, advanced AI translation, and 40 hours of AI usage per month. Includes subtitle export (SRT and VTT), file transcription and translation (audio and video), Translation Glossary, and Private Mode (Desktop). Additional usage beyond the included hours is available via Pay-As-You-Go.
- Pay-As-You-Go: No subscription required. Standard quality at $2.49/hour (UK: £2.49 — EU: €2.49) or Professional quality at $5.99/hour (UK: £5.99 — EU: €5.99). Credit packs of 10, 25, and 50 hours are available; credits never expire. Available both as a stand-alone option (no subscription) and as a top-up for subscribers who exceed their monthly hours. While a Professional-quality credit balance remains, Professional features are unlocked and usage is drawn from the credits before any subscription allowance.
All paid plans are billed through Google Play (Android) or the Microsoft Store (Windows) and are subject to the respective store's terms. Longer-term plans (Standard annual and Professional 6-month) include approximately one month free compared with paying monthly.
2a. Usage Limits and Continuation
Standard and Professional tiers include a set number of AI usage hours per billing cycle. Usage is measured as the time an AI transcription session is running, from the moment you start it until you stop it; time outside a running session is never counted. The App will notify you at 80% and at 100% of your monthly hours. At 100% you may choose to continue at your subscribed quality level using Pay-As-You-Go credits, continue at the Free offline quality level (lower accuracy but no internet required) for the remainder of the session, or end the session and wait for your next billing cycle. The App will never automatically charge you beyond your subscription without your explicit confirmation. Unused subscription hours do not carry over to the next billing cycle; purchased Pay-As-You-Go credits do not expire.
3. Internet and Cloud Services
Paid tier features require an active internet connection and access to cloud-based AI services. AI transcription and translation are provided through third-party service providers. Service availability depends on both DuoVox infrastructure and third-party provider uptime.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Use the App to record conversations without the consent of all parties, where required by applicable law
- Use the App in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App
- Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the App or any part of it
- Use the App to generate content that is harmful, abusive, or violates the rights of others
5. Accuracy and Limitations
Automated transcription and translation can be wrong. The output may contain errors, omissions, mishearings, mistranslations, or missing context, and its accuracy varies with audio quality, accents, background noise, terminology, and the languages involved. You must not rely on DuoVox as the sole or authoritative source of meaning in any medical, legal, safety-critical, financial, immigration, law-enforcement, or other high-stakes situation. Always verify anything important by other means. If you act as an interpreter or translator, you remain professionally responsible for the accuracy and completeness of your work. You are responsible for verifying any output before relying on it or acting upon it.
6. Intellectual Property
The App, including its code, design, icons, and documentation, is the intellectual property of David Arthur Software. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal or business purposes in accordance with these Terms.
7. Third-Party Services
The App relies on third-party services for AI processing and, on some platforms, advertising. These services have their own terms and privacy policies. DAS is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services. Service interruptions by third-party providers may affect App functionality.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. DAS does not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DAS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your use of or inability to use the App
- Any inaccuracy in transcription or translation output
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
- Any third-party service interruption or failure
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of David Arthur Software and its suppliers to you for all claims arising out of or in connection with DuoVox or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid for DuoVox in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) GBP 50. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that the law does not permit to be excluded. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the App if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, all locally stored data remains on your device until you delete it.
10a. Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the app store from which you purchased it (Google Play or Microsoft Store). Upon cancellation, you retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. Refunds are handled by the respective app store in accordance with their refund policies. If you believe you are entitled to a refund for unused subscription time, please contact us at info@duovox.net and we will review your request on a case-by-case basis.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence; and where the mandatory law of your country of residence requires a version of these Terms in your local language to prevail, that version will prevail in the event of any conflict — otherwise the English version prevails.
12a. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms. DuoVox is an assistive aid: when you use AI transcription or translation, audio is processed in real time to produce text and is not stored by us once it has been processed. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required to record, transcribe, or translate other people, and for using the App in accordance with the laws that apply to you. Where David Arthur Software processes personal data, it does so in accordance with that policy and applicable data-protection law and retains its own data-protection responsibilities.
