Live captions with translation, on any Windows PC

Windows Live Captions can translate only on Copilot+ PCs, and only into English or Simplified Chinese. DuoVox captions what your PC plays or hears and translates it as people speak, in both directions, on any Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC.

What DuoVox adds

How it works

  1. Install DuoVox from the Microsoft Store and open it.
  2. Choose the two languages of the conversation. DuoVox detects which one is being spoken.
  3. Set the audio source to System Audio with the headphone button in the toolbar, then press Start.

System Audio captions what your PC plays, so it hears the other people on the call. To caption people in the same room, switch the source to PC / Desk Mic or Headset Mic.

Live Captions or DuoVox?

If you have a Copilot+ PC and only need English, Windows Live Captions is free and built in. If your PC is not a Copilot+ PC, if you need a language other than English, or if you want both sides of a two-language conversation with the translation beside the original, DuoVox does that.

Free, Standard or Professional

Free captions and translates on your device. Standard and Professional use cloud AI for higher accuracy and more languages — 33 on Standard and 43 on Professional — and include hours every month; Pay-As-You-Go hours never expire. On paid plans, call audio is sent to our AI providers in real time to produce the captions and is not stored by us. See plans and prices.
