On a subscription, Pay-As-You-Go hours you already hold take over automatically when your monthly hours run out — even mid-session, so a long call carries on without a break. If you hold none, you'll be offered three choices: buy hours (they're ready for your next session), continue in free offline mode for the rest of the session (lower quality, no internet needed), or end the session. We never auto-charge beyond your subscription without explicit confirmation. See our fair usage policy.
Yes. DuoVox uses dual-lane transcription with automatic language detection. Each speaker's words appear in their own panel, and translations appear alongside in real time.

Providers may keep limited operational logs under their own privacy policies, which can change without notice. On the Free tier, all processing happens entirely on your device.
If you hold Pay-As-You-Go hours, they take over automatically and your session carries on — so if you have a long call coming and your plan is nearly used, buy an hour or two first. Otherwise you'll be warned as your hours run low, and when they run out you can buy hours for your next session, continue in free offline mode, or end the session. We never auto-charge you beyond your subscription without explicit confirmation.

No. DuoVox works without accounts or sign-ups. Download the app and start using it immediately. Subscriptions are managed through Google Play or the Microsoft Store.
DuoVox supports 49 languages in total, but how many you can use depends on your plan. On Free, 22 languages work completely on your device — captions and translation both — and a further 8 give you captions on your device with translation needing an online plan. Standard covers 33 languages with live AI transcription and translation, and Professional covers 43. Private Mode is the strictest privacy setting, included with Professional. It stops DuoVox writing any local logs, so nothing about your session is left on the machine afterwards. It is intended for sensitive conversations — legal, medical or commercial — where even a local record is unwanted. Audio is never stored by us on any tier; Private Mode goes further by removing the on-device trail as well.
Yes, on the Windows desktop app. Standard includes document translation. Professional adds transcription and translation of audio and video files, so you can work from a recording rather than a live conversation. These are desktop features and are not available in the mobile app.
Yes, with Professional on the Windows desktop app. DuoVox exports SRT and VTT subtitle files, which open in most video editors and players. Professional also includes a Translation Glossary, so recurring names and specialist terms come out the way you want them.
You can cancel at any time through whichever store you bought from — Google Play or the Microsoft Store. You keep paid features until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. Refunds are handled by that store under its own refund policy, not by us. If you think you are owed a refund for unused subscription time, email support@duovox.net and we will look at it case by case. The full wording is in section 10a of the Terms of Use.

Like all transcription and translation tools, results may contain errors and should not be treated as a verbatim or certified record. DuoVox is an assistive communication aid and does not replace a qualified human interpreter for regulated or high-stakes contexts. Accuracy can be affected by background noise, accents, microphone quality, overlapping speech and domain-specific terminology. DuoVox is a communication aid and should not be relied upon for legal, medical, safety-critical, financial or official purposes. Always verify important information independently.
